About

Yingda Dong is an illustrator, PhD researcher, and lecturer at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium. His research explores the integration of interculturality in visual language through illustration. His latest picture book, Matisse’s Journey (2023), won awards including The BRAW Amazing Bookshelf (Bologna, 2024) and 100 Outstanding Picture Books (dPICTUS, Belgium, 2024), WIA 2025 Awards long list. Yingda has showcased his works at exhibitions including the Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition (Italy, 2024), Grafixx Festival (Belgium, 2023), and his solo exhibition Tabi (Japan, 2024). He is co-author, with Volkmar Mühleis, of the article "Atmosphere in the Images of Contemporary Chinese Illustrators" in Contemporary Aesthetics (2024).
